Creating a Molecular Fingerprint (Part 1)

Drugs work by binding to disease related protein targets. TRAP measures a chemical’s affinity to bind to a special panel of proteins. The affinity for the proteins creates a distinct pattern, or molecular fingerprint, unique to each chemical.

A small molecule from our library is tested with one of the proteins in the TRAP protein panel. The affinity (binding capacity) of the small molecule is measured by its displacement of another molecule.
